Preparing for the first interview requires lots of research to be done. An individual may feel stressed or anxious about the interview. You should never allow stress and anxiety to affect you. So here are the following tips one should follow to prepare for the first interview:

1. KNOW ABOUT THE COMPANY:
You should research the company before going for the interview. You should know their fields of expertise. You can get the information about the company on their official website. Most of the time it happens that the interviewer asks you to tell about the company. So you should do sufficient research about the company so that you can answer this frequently asked question in a good manner. You can also check the company’s social media pages to know about its current focus and future goals.

2. KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:
So this is the second step you must follow. You should know about the job responsibilities that you are applying for. You should know why you are suitable for this job. You should ask yourself why you are better than the other candidates who have applied for the same job. It is a frequently asked question by the interviewer that ” Why we should hire you out of all other candidates”. Therefore, you must know your skills and areas of interest that match perfectly with the job requirements.

3. PRACTICE FAQs DURING INTERVIEWS
You should at least practice FAQs during interviews available. You should see the questions and frame answers according to your skills, qualifications, interests and personality traits. This will give you an idea of how to answer the questions without getting stuck during the interview.

4. KNOW YOUR RESUME:
You should have the required knowledge of each and everything that you have mentioned in the resume. Don’t write things just for filling the resume. The interviewer usually asks questions about the skills you have mentioned in the resume during the technical rounds. So be prepared about whatever you have written in your resume.

5. DRESS ACCORDING TO THE OCCASION:
The way you dress at the time of your interview tells a lot about you. You should dress according to the occasion. Wear proper formal attire with hairs properly trimmed. Try your level best to look neat and tidy during the interview.

6. PRACTICE MOCK INTERVIEWS:
Conducting mock Interviews will surely boost your confidence. Practising interviews will help to get rid of stress and anxiety. This will make you more comfortable and will help you give the right answers in the interview. Try conducting mock interviews by taking the help of your friends and family. If this is not possible then you can do it yourself. Speak the answers loudly and during this process, you may find some answers that don’t convey what you meant. So this helps you to modify your answers and make them more appropriate.

7. TRY IMPROVING YOUR VOICE AND BODY LANGUAGE:
What an interviewer notices first is your body language and voice tone. This helps them to judge your confidence. So, you should effectively work on improving your voice tone and body language. You can work on them by practising them in front of your family or friends or in front of a mirror.

8. PREPARE SOME QUESTIONS FOR THE INTERVIEWER:
Most of the time an interviewer might ask you “Do you have any questions for us”? In such cases the interviewer expects you to ask some questions about the company. So saying “No” to this question is a negative sign. Therefore, you should prepare some questions beforehand. The questions can be about the working environment of the company, the responsibilities of the job, etc. Do not prepare any personal questions for the interviewer which might make the interviewer uncomfortable. This may lead to your disqualification from the interview. The questions should be completed professionally oriented.

9. GET PHOTOCOPIES OF YOUR DOCUMENTS AND RESUME DONE:
You should get photocopies of your educational mark sheets, certificates, resume and identity proof. Arrange the mark sheets in a reverse chronological manner(the latest degree to be mentioned first). Put all the documents in a file. Although these documents are just for eligibility and formality purposes you should take all documents with you.

10. FOLLOW UP AFTER THE INTERVIEW:
After your first interview, follow up with the interviewer with a short thank you mail. You should thank them for the time they gave you. Moreover, you can tell them that if they have any more questions, then you are available to come for the second interview. If you don’t receive any response, don’t just lose hope. You should always appreciate the feedback in life. This will surely help you to prepare for another interview.
