For people living in urban areas, using an android phone that has internet connectivity is a normal thing to do. We use our phones to look at the time, to watch videos, or to make calls. Considering everything, phones play a huge part in our lives. In urban areas, internet services are available easily and the idea of online classes doesn’t phase anyone much.

Rural India consists of 65% of the total population of the country. When it comes to rural areas, it’s still a struggle to get high-speed internet in a lot of parts. The education sector in rural India has developed a lot in the last few decades. But ever since the pandemic started, we saw it impacting our day-to-day lives to an extent no one saw coming. We had to change our daily routine, we had to stay at home and work from home as well.

Since students began learning online, the ed-tech industry in India has grown drastically, video conferencing platforms have exploded. Online learning has become a part of the educational experience of all school and college students since April 2020.

It is easier to study online as it gives a student the freedom to learn in a place that they desire. This gives students access to classes all over the world, rather than limiting them to a school in their locality. Online lectures can be recorded and can be watched after the lecture is over to get a better understanding of the topic. Finding a flexible learning schedule can help the student to better their creative side as well as to be more productive.

A question that arises is whether online classes are feasible for rural Indians.

Providing quality internet access in rural areas is one of the problems with online education in rural India.

As a result of the lowered prices of their phones and internet packs, many tech companies are making online education more accessible to rural areas.

There are many EdTech companies making their way into rural India, ensuring that in the years to come, online education will be a major part of the lives of people in rural areas. Skilling You is working hard to provide a number of courses that are helping the unemployed to become employment-ready. A number of courses are available for students or any person who wants to gain skills that help in their personal and professional development as well.

NGOs and volunteering also play a part in the development of rural areas, and the more information they spread about the digital learning opportunities to the people who aren’t knowledgeable about these platforms, the better.

Ever since the pandemic governments are working on providing students who lack access to phones or laptops with ample resources to study online. This will help the area of online education in India.
