Somebody said, If anything can go wrong, it will. And today while doing my first FB live, I had first-hand experience of it. First, there were issues with keeping the phone in landscape vs portrait. Praveen came to my rescue and helped me resolve it, but as I was about to take the half sigh of relief, the power went off leaving my mouth wide open and my room in the dark. This was totally unexpected and I thought it’s over, leave it, it’s not happening… As I was grappling with darkness in my life…. I mean my room….some of my concerned well-wishers started calling me as they were unable to see my video. Their untimely affection just added to my woes and worries…. but then I saw a ray of hope through the window of my adjoining room and I took my paraphernalia to the side of the window, dragged a chair put a pillow to support my phone that gave my viewers a full of view of my room and especially my rusty old fan. By the time I started, my face had already become distorted because of mounting tension. I also learned that the visuals I had prepared to show…were appearing reverse to the audience… yani… sabkuch ulta-pulta…literally. Somehow I began, and this is where the entire thing began to change…the opening cheering, the welcoming response and icons by fellow friends and viewers brought my vitality back.
Despite all the glitches, the viewers were generous enough to stay with me. Not every audience can be like that. Thanks to all who participated in my session, you made an immense contribution by boosting my morale. It made me feel really humble – yes, even motivational speakers need motivation.
Any speaker might have to face these issues, especially on their maiden attempt. Wish all our future take due precaution-may luck be on your side unlike me. Wish speakers all the future speakers all the very best and hassle-free streaming. A big thanks to all of you especially to Ravish, Praveen, Nidhi, Daisy, Tanya and Amar. Thank you very much.
