This coronavirus pandemic has forced all of us to work from home. Before lockdown work from home seems so easy, we don’t have to travel for hours to go office, we can work from the comfort of home in pajamas and whatnot, but changing from office (a quiet, calm, and motivating environment) to work from home (a place with so many distractions and comfort) is certainly not easy. So here we are with 10 Survival Tips to Work at Home to make your work from home very easy.

  1. Find a workplace

We feel that we are a great multitasker, we can do our work while watching T.V. or while helping children with their homework but that’s not true, our mind gets distracted when we switch from one task to another. So find a place where you can shut the door, get disconnected from the outside world, and can do your work with full concentration.

  1. Keep a consistent sleep schedule

When we are at home we usually ruin our sleep schedule whether by answering emails late at night or watching Netflix till morning. Being inconsistent in sleep harms our health and reduces our productivity. It's very important to follow a consistent sleep schedule to get the best out of you.

  1. Make a routine

We have a lot of things to do in a day but when the day starts we get confused and often end up doing the least important task. So plan your day and make a routine for yourself every night to have a clear picture of what you will do the next day, this will help you to stay organized, easily get started to do work, and help you in making the most effective use of your time.

  1. Get ready

When we are working from home we skip this step and think that we have saved a lot of time. But that little bit of time can make your day much more productive. Get ready for work just like you used to do while going to the office (but that doesn’t mean to put on formal suits) this will send the signal to your brain that it’s time to work and you will be mentally prepared.

  1. Take a break

Now, working from home doesn’t mean that you can work continuously for any number of hours. Take breaks after relevant intervals, don’t worry this will not hamper your work, rather breaks will help you recharge your battery and make you more productive.

  1. Do exercise

Working from home means always sitting on a chair and looking at the screen. As you are not going outside and in the current situation, not even the gym, it becomes very important to exercise regularly to be physically and mentally healthy. So in your daily routine give a slot to exercise/yoga also.

  1. Reward yourself

After completion of every task reward yourself, that reward can be grabbing a cup of coffee or anything that gives you pleasure. These rewards will refresh you and motivate you to do the next task and improve your productivity in the long run.

  1. Talk to people

Talking about the current situation, social events, public gatherings, and outings are not possible. Our lives are incomplete without social interaction, not interacting with people can lead to many health risks. Don’t rely on text messages, pick the phone and talk to people.

  1. Don’t do the work you wouldn’t do at the office

When we are working, a lot of things pop into our minds that have nothing to do with our work like cleaning the wardrobe, doing laundry, and a lot of things. We think let’s do it first and then will start working. Resist these temptations and think about what you do and don't do when you are in the office. Keep all the things on your table like a charger, water bottle, notepad, etc. so that you don’t have to get up each time and disturb the momentum of working.

  1. Avoid overworking

When we are about to finish the work, we think let’s answer one more email/message and we start answering one, two, and then we are caught up and end up working 1-2 hours more. So, fix a time when you will turn off your laptop and move from your workspace. This will help you to get more time for yourself and good sleep.
